The Bunk Letters
To David W. Bell, 1946-1948
Leon Oakley was playing a festival awhile ago and found a stack of photocopies of a series of typewritten letters from Bunk Johnson (and later some handwritten by Bunk's wife Maude) to one David W. Bell who must have befriended Bunk sometime in the early to mid-1940s. The letters span about 2 years from 1946 to late 1948, about 7 months before Bunk's death. This page shows the complete set, some of which are included in the
#46 Winter 2010 issue of the Frisco Cricket.
