The Foundation Jazz Band

At Pier 23, San Francisco

May 3, 2010

On Monday, May 3, 2010, your Foundation held another event at Pier 23 in San Francisco. Here is some of what John Matthews wrote about the evening:

"Last night at Pier 23 turned out well.  Good crowd.  Interesting mix of band members, but they did well together.  Gregg Keeling got "initiated" last night when Pat Yankee asked: "Where is THAT banjo player?"  Gregg was then told what tune to play and in what key, and to play a long "intro" before Pat started to sing.  All eyes and ears were focused on Gregg, but he responded well.  (Rae Ann got all this on video.  I would like to see it again.)

Jack and Jan Browne brought Charlie and Glenna Campbell.  During one of Pat's tunes, Charlie got up and did a little dance with Pat.  Donna and Charles Huggins came dressed wonderfully.  (When they left, Donna drove their car next to mine and we transferred the 100 "Jazz on the Barbary Coast" books that they bought in January.)

I passed a May basket (as the tip jar) during the breaks and also got just over half a page of e-mail addresses, including some from a  group of young adults who were very impressed with the music.

Many thanks, again, to Rae Ann Berry for creating and posting these videos!
