From the Frisco Cricket article Yerba Buena Tuba by Hal Smith, Summer 1998

Mark Vehrencamp (1953-)

Mark Vehrencamp (1953-) became enamored of the Firehouse Five, Lu Watters and Turk Murphy at an early age and quickly developed into an accomplished San Francisco style brass bassist. He migrated to the Northwest in the '70s, working with Don Kinch's Conductors Ragtime Band, the Uptown Lowdown Jazz Band and Stumptown Jazz. In the early '90s he recorded with the Frisco Syncopators, including tributes to George Bruns31 and Bob Short32. Though he is not currently playing full-time, Vehrencamp still listens to and learns from tubaists of all styles and eras.

Published in the The Frisco Cricket, which is available when you Join the Foundation (only $25!).
